KM+ Nano RainAway is a state of the art Nano Technology Formula Rain Repellent. It repels water more effectively than traditional water repellents. Nano RainAway glass treatment improves wet weather driving visibility. Simply apply it onto the cleaned exterior surface of the windshield glass and watch the raindrops slide off the windshield while driving.

Nano RainAway is a coating that when applied to glass windscreen will enable rain droplets to clear off from the windscreen.
Windscreens are made of glass, which on a molecular level composed of three dimensional network of Silicon and Oxygen in tetrahedral network. Other substance such as Sodium Carbonate, may be added to improve on properties to make glass less brittle. At the edges of this silicon-oxygen network, there is a coating of oxygen and hydrogen bonds, forming hydroxyl bonds.
Water is a compound made of 1 oxygen atom and 2 hydrogen atoms. It is a very polar compound because electrons in the compound are concentrated closer to the oxygen atom. This results in the oxygen atom being slightly more negative charged and the hydrogen atoms slightly more positive charged relative to the oxygen atom. Their small charge differences can be represented as in diagram on the right.
As the edges of glass has hydroxyl bonds, when water touches the windscreen, hydrogen bonding takes place between the hydroxyl from windscreen and the polar water droplets. Water droplets spreads over a larger surface area of the glass, reducing the contact angle as seen above. This is seen as water sticking to the windscreen and higher resistance to roll off from surface.
KM+ Nano RainAway is a Silicon based polymer which is non-polar. This means that the electrons are evenly spread and there is no charge difference. When spread a layer of KM+ Nano RainAway to the windscreen, as it has no charge difference, there is no attraction with hydroxyl group when it comes into contact with water or from the rain droplets. This means water droplet has smaller surface contact, increasing the contact angle between surface and water droplet. The greater the contact angle, the easier the droplet will slide off. This is seen as the windscreen repels water droplets.
KM+ Nano RainAway is a super-hydroboic coating to inhibit interaction with water. Besides water rolling off the windscreen, it also picks up bits of dirt and dust and self-cleaning the surface. Your windscreen remain cleaner longer!
Product Name: | KM+ Nano RainAway
|
Product Description: | KM+ Nano RainAway is designed improve visibility road in heavy rain condition by repelling rain water from windscreen.
|
Test Objectives: | This test is to investigate if the application of KM+ Nano RainAway on windscreen will cause wipers sticking effect in heavy rain and drizzling conditions
|
Test Methods: | All tests were done in simulated rain conditions. One set of tests was done right after application of the rain repellant. The second set of tests was done after 2 weeks of rain repellant application. The tests were to identify if the wiper wipes smoothly or Not smoothly. If the wiper wipe not smoothly, it would consider as fail in the test. The following were the findings. |
